Spanish Conditional Tense: Conjugation Trainer & Practice
The Conditional Simple (Condicional Simple) is used to express hypothetical actions, politeness, advice, or consequences of something that did not happen.
- Hypothesis: Si tuviera dinero, viajaría (If I had money, I would travel)
- Politeness: ¿Podrías ayudarme? (Could you help me?)
- Advice: Deberías descansar más (You should rest more)
- Unreal consequences: Sería genial si vinieras (It would be great if you came)
Regular Verbs
In the Conditional Simple, all regular verbs add the same endings directly to the infinitive. Same as Future Simple — you do not remove -ar, -er or -ir.
Endings (same for -ar, -er, -ir)

Irregular Verbs
Irregular verbs in the Conditional Simple use exactly the same stems as in the Future Simple, but with different endings: -ía, -ías, -ía, -íamos, -íais, -ían.
Irregularity groups (same as Future)
Group A — Replace vowel with d: tener → tendr-, poner → pondr-, salir → saldr-, venir → vendr-
Group B — Lose the vowel: saber → sabr-, poder → podr-, querer → querr-, haber → habr-
Group C — Very irregular stems: hacer → har-, decir → dir-
Example: tener (to have) → tendr-
- Yo tendría tiempo (I would have time).
- Tú tendrías éxito (You would succeed).
- Él / Ella tendría una idea (He/She would have an idea).
- Nosotros tendríamos suerte (We would be lucky).
- Ellos tendrían una reunión (They would have a meeting).
Example: hacer (to do) → har-
- Yo haría la comida (I would make the meal).
- Tú harías los deberes (You would do the homework).
- Ellos harían una propuesta (They would make a proposal).
